So, last night, my laptop broke. I never even thought that I would drop my laptop, but last night, it happened. Now, with money tight, I will need to be getting laptops at the cheapest price and I will need to learn to take better care of my laptop.
To do so, I need to pay heed to strategies to protect my laptop as is mentioned in the article Maintenance Monday: Ways to Protect Your Laptop. There, they mention several things that you can do to protect your laptop…none of which I was doing. The first thing that they mention is “Physical Damage.” Well, that is exactly what I did. I simply was watching a movie on my laptop when I decided to bring it from the living room to the bedroom so that I could watch the rest of the movie in bed and fall asleep to it. I forgot that it was plugged in and that tension when I walked away brought the laptop right to the ground. All of the sudden, POOF, all gone.
The worst thing is that I have not backed up my data or anything. Basically, I am screwed.
Another thing that they mention in protecting your laptop is laptop cases. Of course, I rarely would use the case. I would just throw my laptop in my purse and be on my way. I suppose I was destined to screw this up after taking care of it so poorly.
Thus, I am now also searching for cheap laptop backpacks to go with my new laptop.
For me, right now, everything must be cheap because I don’t have a whole lot of money to spend.
I might even just bite the bullet and go completely small/off brand like an Acer or something. I just had a look and it seems that I can get a new, albeit cheap, inelegant laptop, for about $350.
But, when you break your laptop by dropping it, do you really deserve better?
